AT&T’s “It Can Wait” public awareness campaign is focused on a simple, powerful message: No text is worth dying for. Back in April, I spent the day with AT&T and students from Woodson High School in Fairfax County to discuss and experience the dangers of texting while driving. September 19, 2012 is National Pledge Day:  http://www.itcanwait.org/. I signed the pledge to never text and drive - and I encourage you to do the same.

AT&T is giving away a hands-free Bluetooth device - Backbeat Go ($99 Value!) - enter below via rafflecopter. Share the message and tweet why texting and driving can wait (#itcanwait).

A recent AT&T survey found that 97 percent of teens say they know that texting is dangerous. The survey also found:
·       75 percent of teens surveyed say that texting while driving is “common” among their friends;
·       Almost all teens (89 percent) expect a reply to a text or email within five minutes or less;
·       And 77 percent of teens report seeing their parents text while driving.

Technology can help: 89 percent of teens said a phone app to prevent texting & driving – like AT&T DriveMode – would be an effective way to get them or their friends to stop texting and driving.

With kids in the back seat, it is too dangerous to text and drive. Whoever it is can wait until I get where I'm going or they can call me. :)

I know first-hand how quickly something can go wrong on the road. My wheelchair reminds me every day! And now that my car carries 'precious cargo', I KNOW that, whatever it is, it can wait. Nothing is more important than the safety of my family.

I dont want to text and drive because I want to set a good example for my 4 young boys. Also, I don't want to end up a statistic, with them in the car with me!!
