What experience do you bring to Loudoun?
While Dr. Baraki is new to the area, he’s a seasoned physician. Dr. Baraki finished medical school in 2002. Over the past twelve years, he's completed his medical residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, a fellowship in Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery at the University of Chicago, a fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery at INOVA Fairfax, and nearly four years of private practice in Maryland. He brings that breadth of experience to his new solo practice in Loudoun, a location he selected because of the close-knit community. “(Loudoun) is a busy area but has a small town feel, which allows me to develop deeper relationships with my patients. I take the time to listen to my patients, address their concerns, provide advice, and seek the best outcomes. I tailor all procedures according to what's best for that specific individual.”
What made you decide to start your own practice?
Dr. Baraki ventured out on his own so that he would be able to concentrate more on the things he enjoyed in medicine and provide more choices for his patients. “I wanted to bring things to the area that others are not specializing in.” While facial plastics, specifically upper and lower eye-lid rejuvenation, are Dr. Baraki's specialty, his service offerings are extensive and include both surgical and non-surgical procedures like botox, fillers, and laser rejuvenation.
What is your most popular service for women?
Botox and fillers are quite popular, but Dr. Baraki warns that they are not for everyone and that a doctor is best suited to make that assessment. “The potential for complications is always there and (these services) should be performed by someone well trained and versed in anatomy. Proper positioning and depth of injection is important to achieve the best results and to limit the risk of serious complications.”
I hear this a lot... so tell me, what is a "mommy makeover"?
”A “mommy makeover” is a grouping of procedures to correct “cosmetic issues that arrive as the result of pregnancy and childbirth.” For Dr. Baraki's patients, that may involve correcting complexion issues like malasma (“mask of pregnancy”), breast sag and volume loss, stretch marks, loss of tone of the abdominal wall muscle, snd weight gain in the outer hips. Dr. Baraki resolves these issues with a variety of procedures including broadband light therapy (BBL) for hyperpigmentation (I've had this a few times and LOVE it!), breast lift and augmentation, laser-assisted liposuction, and abdominalplasty (“tummy tuck”).
While some people are not good candidates for certain procedures or should not have multiple procedures performed at once, there is one giant benefit to the mommy makeover”: the down time. “Moms have busy schedules. For those who are able (to have multiple procedures performed at once), they only have to undergo one anesthesia and one down period.”
